God’s Comfort In The Middle Of Life’s Problems

“Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people (Psalm 3:8)”.

God is good! He is our salvation! From Him, we receive all blessing and strength. We can rejoice in who He is, that He is constant and unchanging. He gives the same salvation today that he gave in the days of the Bible.

If you are like me, you sometimes forget God’s goodness and become discouraged. Life weighs on your mind, and your problems become your main focus. It is difficult to look past your needs and see the God who gives salvation.

If only these problems would go away!

I have often wished for an easier life. If did not have problems I would be able to praise Him and feel His goodness.

A problem-free life is not a sign of a spirit filled life.

God works to show His goodness in the middle of life’s problems. Notice the first of Psalms 3, “Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! Many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah (Psalm 3:1-2)”. In these verses, the magnitude of King David’s problems is revealed. The difficulties he is experiencing are not being hidden or diminished. His problems are real just like our problems.

Let’s read further.

But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah. (Psalm 3:3-8)

With problems on all sides, God is the one who gives the blessing of comfort and rest.

Problems come and go. Sometimes they are small irritants and other times they are unbearable storms. But, God never changes. The same God, who lifted King David’s spirit, is the same God who gives rest and blessing today.

Whether you are facing small irritants or smothering problems, God wants to bless you with His comfort. Your problems may not go away. However, you can experience the peace and joy of God’s presence. Look to God with confident faith.
